Alexis gave up her newborn daughter at the age of 16 (why is it, on soaps, to be 16? Why not 15? Or 17?). Many years later, the daughter comes to town as a con woman who wanted some Dead Man's Hand cards from Jax, it was like a tug of war over these stupid cards that Luke had or something. Anyway, Sam started to dislike Alexis, I forget why exactly other than Alexis wanting Sam to donate stem cells to her daughter Kristina from her baby that she was carrying as it was Sonny's child (yep, Sonny knocked up both mother and daughter- believe me, when he realized that it was the FUNNIEST thing! He thought it was like being on Jerry Springer! Dude, note to self: keep it in your pants) but neither of them knew that they were mother-daughter until Sam's brother Danny said something cryptic before he died that made Sam wonder. So Sam and Jason did some research and realized that it was Alexis who was Sam's mother! Sam wasn't exactly thrilled and kept it a secret until she was shot in the back. Jason, being devastated and wanted to help, told Alexis the truth. It took some time of getting use to but now they are close.
