Desiring Each Other

I will always believe that Lucy and Desi were each other's Loves of their lives...sure they divorced and remarried successfully until death but let's face it- Lucy and Desi have a powerful love story between them. After meeting on the studio before making "Dance Girl, Dance", they had been married for 20 years, had two kids (after some miscarriages), they built a studio together that became an empire of it's time, and a successful TV show. Lucy wanted Desi to play her husband on "I Love Lucy" citing that they were married and proved that they could work together well by performing on the road. Desi's alcoholism, infedilities, both of them being workaholics, put on heavy stress on their marriage that they divorced. But they continued to work together on occasion, they continued to be friends, Desi always sent flowers to Lucy every year on their anniversary despite their divorce, and Lucy was very devastated when Desi died in 1986. I believe their daughter Lucie said that her parents' last conversation with each other was full of "I love you"s. So yes, I'll always believe in their love story, their connection.

Here's another little common fact: Desi's real name was Desiderio and Lucy's middle name was Desiree- both mean Desire, hince why I named this post "Desiring Each Other".
