Like the rest of the world, I was sadden to hear about the death of Elizabeth Taylor earlier this week; however, to be honest, I did expect it as well judging from her final public appearance via to the hospital where she remained till her death. I wouldn't call myself a fan of Elizabeth Taylor, I never really followed her movies, buy her perfumes, or anything else but I will say that she was, and still is, a very fascinating person. I did like her and she's connected with the people I love: James Dean, Ringo Starr, Lucille Ball, and General Hospital which you will see in below posts.
Rest in Peace Elizabeth R. Taylor; I am sure she's resting comfortably in Mike Todd and Richard Burton's arms.
I am very sure that Elizabeth Taylor will forever be remembered as a woman who has been married 8 times, jewelry, her fight against AIDS, her long time friendship with Michael Jackson, being the "other" woman who broke up Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds (in Carrie Fisher's words: think Brad Pitt leaving Jennifer Aniston for Angelina Jolie), a talented actress who's been around the showbiz since 12 years old.
I remember reading an interview from her in a magazine several years ago when Elizabeth came close to dying, she saw Mike Todd who told her that her time wasn't over yet then. Elizabeth seemed to always consider both Mike and Richard Burton to be the two loves of her life which I don't disagree. I do believe that if Mike hadn't died, she would remain with him although it's very questionable if Elizabeth would have ended up doing Cleopatra with Richard, would she have left Mike as she did with Eddie for Richard? Very hard to say...Elizabeth did say that if Richard hadn't died, she would have married him the third time!
Elizabeth and Richard Burton guest starred on Here's Lucy where Lucy tried on Elizabeth's ring and it got stucked! Unfortunately I never really seen this episode myself although I would love to! My mom has seen it and she remembers it to this day as being very funny, so I will trust her word since I do love Lucy.
Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean were in one movie together: Giant. As a James Dean fan, I did see this movie and it was very long in my standards but since I love that man I hung in there! I thought it was a great movie. I have heard many times over the years that Elizabeth presented James with a cat and was devastated when he died while the film was still filming.

Sorry for the way it looks- that's the way my scanner presented it and no matter how badly I tried to fix it this version looked so much better in comparison!
Anthony Geary (Luke on General Hospital) and Erika Slezak (Viki on One Life to Live). Erika is celebrating her 40 years on One Life to Live and Anthony said this in her honor:
"Erika is the real deal- a consummate professional. Her work has been the gold standard of daytime for four decades. Her graciousness and generosity are an inspiration to me. Well done, my friend. You make me proud to be an actor."
Between marriages to William Powell and Clark Gable, Carole was romantically involved with singer Russ Columbo for a short time before his death. From my understanding, he accidently shot himself while looking at a gun at his friend's house. Carole was very devastated by his death. I've heard that his mother was kept from hearing the news, that his friends would send postcards to her in his name so that it would seem that he was still alive until she died. All I can say to that is "Wow".
